ZOOFLU OUTBREAK!

For my second-to-last Letterpress project in college, we were instruct to make “Fake News” Posters! I knew I wanted to incorporate my love for bright colors with the funkiness of mixed animal print, mildly (100%) inspired by the Lisa Frank brand. As I began to think of what fake news I could spread, I decided to create a fake disease with symptoms mimicking those of a psychedelic journey.

By taking advantage of quoins (locking tools) and spacers, I was able to manipulate the type at the bottom of the page to trick the audience’s mind into disorientation and confusion, as the symptoms read.

I persevered through many trials and errors during this project, such as incorrect spacing, upside type (where not intentional), and injuries while carving.

This project taught me to truly care for my craft and use my inspiration to better my artwork, rather than overwhelm.

This Letterpress print is ,to date , my favorite print I have ever created.
